What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is the only FDA approved procedure for non-surgical removal of fat cells. During the CoolSculpting treatment, 20 to 25% of the fat cells in the area being treated will be eliminated from the body over about a three-month period. These cells can never return to the body, because your body makes a set number of fat cells which ends in your early twenties. This procedure was developed by a Harvard team of doctors that requires no anesthesia and has little or no downtime.

How Does It Work?

Cryolipolysis, is the process that selectively targets the fat cells only, sparing the other of tissues in the treatment area. This is like when you open your refrigerator in the morning and remove the water pitcher (blood and fluids), a steak (muscle) and a stick of butter (fat). All three are at the same temperature, but only the butter (fat) is solid. These fat cells become injured or killed from the cold and are naturally eliminated from your body. The treatments take from 35 to 60 minutes per applicator. Many people will talk on the phone, do their normal business and yes many will sleep. To date over seven million procedures have been performed worldwide.

Am I a Good Candidate?

CoolSculpting is a body shaping or contouring process. It is not a diet or weight loss program. In CoolSculpting we are targeting that stubborn “genetic” fat that no matter how much weight you lose or how much you work out. That fat is still there. With CoolSculpting we can now treat the entire abdomen, the flanks, the “bra” fat and love handles. The process can also be used to treat the upper arms, the inner and outer thighs and yes, the “banana” roll.

Why Have It Done at Your Medicos?

Your consultation and treatment will be performed by myself alone, at other centers you may not even be seen by a licensed physician. This gives you the benefit of my greater than 35 years of medical experience. I have preformed nearly 600 treatments this year alone, and I am one of the first doctors in the Chicago area to be selected to perform this procedure.
