Liposuction is a surgical cosmetic procedure that slims and reshapes your body by removing unwanted fat beneath the skin. Your Medicos, S.C. can transfer removed fat into other areas of the body, such as face, buttocks, hands or breast.
All liposuction at Your Medicos, S.C. is performed using local anesthetic, which is safer than general anesthesia and reduces recovery time.
Your Medicos, S.C. offers different approaches to liposuction depending on your desired result and body type.
- Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL): Consists of using a liposuction cannula (thin, hollow tube) that oscillates or vibrates to help break up fatty tissue as it is being removed from the body. It allows for a slightly more gentle technique than traditional liposuction and is especially helpful in areas of dense adipose tissue.
- Laser Lipo: This technique uses low-energy waves to liquefy the fat, which is removed through a small cannula. This technique makes the fat easier to remove, resulting in a less aggressive procedure, which may lead to faster recovery times. In areas with thin layers of fat, like the face and the neck, the cannula might not be used at all.
Both types of liposuction at Your Medicos work on the same principle of fat removal by suction. First, a solution of “tumescent” (a combination of normal saline, epinephrine to minimize blood loss, and lidocaine to numb the area) is pumped into the area. The fat is then removed by high-powered suction. After the removal of fat cells, you will wear compression garments to maximize the retraction of the skin around the newly contoured area.
